![]() ![]() A sweet Southern blonde with honey colored hair. The teacher that I would love to contact would be my 5th grade teacher in North Palm Beach, Florida, whom I had for a short time during the 1960-1961 school year. I give TCOTG 10 appreciative spirits out of 10.Īlthough teachers, both retired and employed want privacy, wouldn't it be great if each state had the addresses or locations of current, or more importantly, retired teachers. This episode also reminds me that I'd love to track down my 11th grade English teacher to say that her class succesfully broke me of my phobia of speaking in front of others, and enhanced my writing skills to the point where I've written for several magazines dating back to the late 90s. TCOTG was the only teleplay mentioned, but now I have several folks looking forward to catching this very TZ episode based on my praise. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I just told the story to several of my coworkers as we were discussing "teacher movies" like "Mr.Holland's Opus" and "Stand & Deliver". It's a beautifully written and acted scene. How could anybody not tear up? Professor Fowler is such a likeable character, and his anguish at being let go hits both the character and the viewer like a ton of bricks.Īs each student's spirit advises him of the positive impact he made on their lives, Fowler's pride and relief grows, confirming that his life and efforts were not in vain. I too, am a card carrying member of the "TCOTG made me weepy" club. The play of life goes on and while we don't write the whole thing, we do contribute a verse. But it would have been a little different and not quite as good. ![]() And most of the boys would have lived just fine. Without Professor Fowler the school probably would have gotten along all right. And that's why I like this one more than "Wonderful Life," which tried to convince us that Langley Falls would have turned into the "Road Warrior" without George Bailey's presence. The message here is that we probably don't matter a great deal, but we do matter some. ![]() And it's the unknown that scares us more than anything. I like to think that we are more than that. Well, I squeezed out a few tears whenever June Forey had lines in the "Bewitching Pool" but I don't think that counts.ĭoes anything we do really matter? Or are we just clouds of molecules spinning around each other. You'll not see a parody of this on the Simpsons, yet this is probably one of the best TZ episodes. "sentimental" and Twilight zone in the same sentence. The Twilight zone version of "It's a Wonderful Life." One does not often use the words. #CHANGING OF THE GUARD TWILIGHT ZONE FULL#Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, That struts and frets his hour upon the stage, Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player ![]()
